grim times

i have an xmas ritual
i cook a ham
i boil it in cherry coke
and
onions
and
apple

and other things

i cool it
i glaze it
with
sugar and chilli flakes and maple syrup

and other things

until
it
is
shining like a clear summer night of stars

until
it
has
the
lustre
of silk and magic and twinkling ice

i slice it still warm

flesh melts under german steel


i
